Seven Slats Per Panel. Finer Texture. A Budget-Friendly Take on the Classic Slat Wall Look.
Bring the slat wall aesthetic to any interior with our 7 Grid Unfinished Slat Wood Wall Panels, a solid wood panel with a 7-slat ridge pattern. Where our standard 4-grid panels use four wider slats per plank, the 7-grid format packs seven narrower slats across the same panel width, creating a denser, finer surface texture with more ridges per square foot. The panels arrive completely unfinished — naked solid wood, ready to stain or paint to any color.
Available in 94.5" and 106" lengths, with 4 panels per box for both options. Lightweight construction and interlocking edges make installation straightforward for both DIY and trade installers.
The standard 4-grid slat panels use four bold, well-spaced slats per plank, creating a strong, architectural shadow pattern. The 7 Grid format takes the same panel width and fills it with seven narrower slats, producing a more detailed, textile-like surface. More ridges mean more shadow lines per square foot, which makes the wall texture richer and more intricate at close range while still reading clearly as a slat wall from a distance. It's a softer, more layered effect than the 4-grid. Both are solid wood — the difference is purely the slat pattern. The unfinished solid wood surface takes stain and paint well, letting you achieve any color from a natural warm oak to a painted white or charcoal.

Installation is straightforward and can be completed by most DIY installers and contractors in a few hours.
Step 1: Prepare the Wall Surface
The wall must be clean, dry, and flat. Wipe away dust, fill any holes or cracks, and let patched areas fully dry before installation.
Step 2: Measure the Wall Area
Measure the height and width of your wall. Add 10% for cuts and waste. Mark a level starting line to guide the first panel.
Step 3: Dry Fit the Panels
Before applying adhesive, place the panels against the wall to test the layout and confirm alignment. The interlocking edges allow you to snap panels together and preview the finished look before committing.
Step 4: Apply Construction Adhesive
Apply a high-quality construction adhesive such as Liquid Nails to the back of the panel. Ensure even distribution for a strong, uniform bond.
Step 5: Install the First Panel
Position the first panel against the wall using your level line as a guide. Press firmly and confirm it's perfectly straight before moving on.
Step 6: Continue Panel by Panel
Lock each subsequent panel into the previous one using the interlocking edges. The precision fit creates seamless connections with no visible joint lines.
Step 7: Cut to Fit
At wall edges, corners, outlets, and fixtures, trim panels using a circular saw, miter saw, or fine-tooth hand saw.
Step 8: Apply Your Finish
Once panels are installed and adhesive has cured, apply your chosen finish. Stain to reveal the oak grain character, or paint to any color. The unfinished laminate surface accepts both readily.
Why YouShouldHaveIt
Q: How is the 7 Grid different from the Stout (4 Grid) Unfinished panels?
A: Both are solid wood and unfinished. The difference is the slat pattern: the Stout uses 4 wider slats per panel (19mm wide) for bold, pronounced shadow lines; the 7 Grid packs 7 narrower slats across the panel for a finer, denser texture with more subtle ridges. The 7 Grid is also thinner overall (0.5" vs 3/4") and comes 4 panels per box with no end cap, vs. 3 panels + end cap for the Stout.
Q: What finishing options work on these panels?
A: As naked solid wood, these panels accept wood stain, interior paint, and clear coat. Staining will bring out the natural grain character of the wood. Painting works well for a solid color finish. You can stain before installation to work the finish into the grooves easily, or paint after for full seam coverage.
Q: Are end caps included?
A: No end caps are included with either length. Contact our team at (858) 261-4068 for edge finishing options for your project.
Q: Is there a minimum order?
A: No minimum on the 94.5" length. The 106" length has a 15-box minimum order. A sample is available before committing to a full order.
Q: Can these be installed on ceilings?
A: Yes. Use adhesive and screws for ceiling installations. Drive fasteners into solid framing for a secure overhead mount.
Q: Are these panels water resistant?
A: Yes, the panels are water-resistant. Designed for interior use; not rated for exterior or wet-area applications.
Q: Do these panels help with sound?
A: These are cladding panels, not acoustic panels. The slatted surface helps diffuse sound reflections and reduce echo compared to a flat wall. For dedicated acoustic performance, see our Acoustic Wall Panel collection.
Q: Is free shipping included?
A: Yes, free shipping within the contiguous United States.
Q: Do you have a showroom?
A: Yes, 10926 Woodside Ave Suite A, Santee, CA 92071. Monday–Friday, 8am–4pm.
