Smoke Gray still lets light through — it's not opaque. But the space underneath will feel meaningfully cooler and shadier than with Clear or Gray panels. If you want to sit outside comfortably in direct afternoon sun, choose Smoke Gray.

Installation

• Lay panels over purlins (horizontal support beams) spaced per your roofing plan
• Overlap panels by one full curved ridge at each side joint for a watertight connection
• Fasten with polycarbonate roofing screws with EPDM washers — drive through the crown (top) of each wave ridge, never the valley
• Pre-drill holes slightly larger than the screw shaft to allow for thermal expansion
• Overlap end-to-end by a minimum of 6"–8" on panels running along the slope
• Cut panels to length with a circular saw and fine-tooth blade or tin snips
• Seal cut edges with aluminum closure strips or butyl tape to prevent debris and insect entry

How dark is Smoke Gray — can I still see through it?
Smoke Gray is a deep tint — darker than our Gray panels, but not fully opaque. You can see through it, but the visibility is significantly reduced compared to Clear or Gray. How much cooler will it be under Smoke Gray vs. Clear panels?

What fasteners do I use?
Use polycarbonate or metal roofing screws with EPDM rubber washers. Always drive fasteners through the crown (top) of each wave ridge — never through the valley. Pre-drill holes slightly larger than the screw shaft to allow for thermal expansion.

How much should I overlap the panels?
Overlap side-by-side panels by one full wave ridge. Overlap end-to-end panels (along the slope) by a minimum of 6"–8", or more on lower-pitched roofs. Apply butyl tape or sealant at overlaps for a watertight seal on low-slope applications.

Can I cut these panels to size?
Yes. Use a circular saw with a fine-tooth blade, or tin snips for shorter cuts. Seal cut edges with aluminum closure strips or butyl tape to prevent debris and insects from entering the corrugated channels.

Will the tint fade over time?
